Diana BarracloughFollowing a degree in ceramics at Bournemouth College of Art in 1968, Diana worked for the potters David Leach and Mary Rich. Her work is much inspired by the coastline of West Cornwall, its gardens, rivers, rock pools and beaches. Her distinctive totems reflect this environment and are designed to withstand the elements. The natural patterns of stones and pebbles are the basis of much of her decoration applied in broad free strokes. The reappearance of the Red-Beaked Chough in Cornwall in recent years has been a major inspiration in her work.Birdbath with Choughs, ceramic, 30 x 30 cms Click here to view more work by Diana Barraclough |
